Lensbury win an environmental award

An elated Lensbury club celebrated achieving the merit accreditation from Go Green, Richmond Upon Thames, on Tuesday 4th November. Go Green, a division of Richmond Upon Thames council, recognise good environmental practices and encourage companies to adopt environmental initiatives and move up their accreditation ladder.

Environmental sustainability has been at the heart of Lensbury’s business agenda over the past decade. A conference, hotel and leisure club situated on the banks of the river Thames, Lensbury operates 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. As a business running at its full capacity at most times, the team at Lensbury led by Ian Longley, Maintenance Manger, want to ensure they operate a club which is as eco-efficient and environmentally sound as possible. Ian comments “We have achieved this award due to lots of effort all round and we are very pleased that we have received recognition for this. I do not want to rest on our laurels and I believe we are more than capable of achieving the next level”.

Several new environmental initiatives have been implemented at Lensbury over the last 18 months or so to reduce our overall waste and energy consumption along with the conservation of materials. Work as gone on behind the scenes on new projects to install more energy efficient equipment and systems. Development of their working culture and practices has significantly contributed to making a difference in ensuring Lensbury is as sustainable as possible. The team at Lensbury are delighted to have won this award and are striving to continuously improve systems to enable them to go on and win the advanced accreditation over the next six months.
