On Sunday 11th September 2012 David Walliams (The Little Britain star) and his team stayed at The Lensbury before starting off on his last 15 miles to the finish line in London.
David and his team had a private dinner and relaxed while preparing for the last stage of the swim. They were supposed to have stayed on the Saturday night however due to his ‘Thames tummy’ they were one day behind schedule, but the team were still full of enthusiasm to finish and David still smiled through the pain.
After staying the night David Walliams entered the water at Teddington Lock on Monday 12th September to complete the further 15 miles to reach his goal. The last leg of his challenge saw him tackle the tidal stretch of the Thames, with strong currents and undertows, along with busy river traffic.
David Walliams swam 140-miles along the length of the River Thames from Lechlade, in Gloucestershire to Westminster Bridge and he reached Westminster Bridge eight days after starting near the river’s source, during which he battled illness and rescued a dog.
