Top 5 Wedding Tips for a Stress-Free Day

Wedding photography at The Lensbury Hotel, Teddington, LondonWhen all the wedding planning is done and your special day finally rolls around you’ll probably feel a mixture of excitement, exhaustion and elation. If you’ve worked with one of our wedding planners you’ll be confident that everything’s been carefully planned and considered, but getting yourself through such an important day stress-free, can still be a challenge. Here are five top tips from our wedding planners for a stress-free wedding day; so you’ll be sure to have the day dreams are made of.

Don’t use makeup for the first time on the day

Treatment packagesSo you’ve splashed a bit on that fancy makeup you’ve wanted for ages – it’s your wedding day after all. While it’s tempting to rip off the plastic wrapping and apply the pristine, unmarked lippy on the morning of your wedding, this could lead to tears. Make sure you test your makeup well in advance. You may not look quite as wonderful in Coral Peach as you had expected, and it would be better to know this well before the day.

Aromatherapy can help

It’s going to be a wonderful day. But it’s also quite likely to be emotional and you might find yourself feeling a little edgy or teary. Scents and aromas that are familiar or calming can really help. Essential oils that are known to slow brain wave patterns and produce sensations of relaxation are: Roman Chamomile, Clary Sage, Helichrysum, Lemon, Mandarin, Marjoram, Neroli, Ylang Ylang , Vetiver, Rose, Spikenard and Frankincense. Look for an aromatherapy option that works for you. Our spa therapists can provide advice if you need it.

Even if you’re a self-confessed ‘control freak’, you won’t be able to do everything. And on your wedding day, that’s not your job. Your job is to have a wonderful time. Part of making this happen is knowing you have someone designated and in charge of different aspects of the day. Delegate to someone to take care of pulling people into photo shoots, or collecting keepsakes, or making sure everyone has cars from the church. This doesn’t need to be you! And if you’ve worked with our wedding planners you might like to delegate a friend to be the ‘point-person’ on the day. If something minor needs to be clarified, it takes the stress off you and the groom if it’s someone else’s job to sort this.

Sorting your Gifts

Give someone the job of bringing a roll of sticky tape and making sure cards and presents are secured together. It can be awkward at the end of unwrapping presents, to find a stray card and two beautifully wrapped, yet both unmarked, presents!

Snatch some time with your new hubby

weddings-07It will be a busy day. Everyone will want to hug you and kiss you and congratulate you. And this will be lovely, but don’t forget it’s you and your partner’s wedding day and the most important people for each of you is each other. Try to agree a time when you both meet up on the terrace, or in the hallway or in the garden and have five minutes to yourselves to enjoy each others happiness.
