We’re delighted to announce that Princess Alice Hospice has been chosen by our members as The Lensbury’s Charity of the Year for 2026. We’re looking forward to supporting them over the coming months and helping raise the funds needed to sustain their vital work.
Founded by local residents more than 40 years ago, Princess Alice Hospice continues to uphold its original purpose: providing exceptional care for patients and their families, whether at home or in the Hospice. This commitment remains central to everything they do.
In the past year, the hospice has supported more than 4,000 people, most of them in their own homes. This reach is made possible thanks to a dedicated network of over 1,300 volunteers working across 80 roles. Their time and skills are essential in ensuring that every patient receives care tailored to their individual needs.
The hospice’s care model centres on supporting people to live as fully and comfortably as possible. Their teams not only manage symptoms but also provide emotional, social, and spiritual support to patients and those close to them, offering a truly holistic service during what can be a difficult period for families.
Providing this level of care comes with substantial financial demands. It costs £12.3 million each year for Princess Alice Hospice to offer its services free of charge. With only around 20% of funding coming from the NHS, the organisation must raise more than £26,000 every day to keep its services running. Community support is therefore crucial, and we’re committed to playing our part. Funds raised throughout the year will help ensure that patients and families continue to have access to the care they rely on.
Throughout 2026, we’ll be hosting a range of fundraising events and activities, giving members plenty of opportunities to get involved. We’ll be sharing details soon across our channels, so please keep an eye out for updates. In the meantime, visit their website to learn more about their work and start donating.
We’re proud to be partnering with Princess Alice Hospice this year and to support a service that makes a meaningful difference to so many local people. Thank you to everyone who voted in the Members’ Survey, and to all who will join us in the fundraising efforts ahead.
