Kick-start your fitness

with Personal Trainer, Charles Streeter.

The myths around summer bodies are certainly true, they are built in the winter. But whatever your ambition, it is never too late to start your fitness routine. And whether you are new to fitness or The Lensbury, there is always something you can do to improve and take your fitness to the next level.

The spring and summer months are the perfect time to kick-start or intensify your training as increased levels of vitamin D improve natural day-to-day energy.
The increase in this vitamin also releases hormones that help make us happier whilst also boosting our metabolism – improving calorie burn by up to 25%! Why wouldn’t you make the most of this extra calorie burn?

Our ancestors were built to hunt and to lead active lifestyles and establishing daily fitness routines in the spring can really help to offset the negative effects of a modern, busy and fairly inactive lifestyle. Not only that, but regular training helps to make us feel good and releases hormones much like that of our ancestors would have felt after a successful hunt or achievement.

Daily chores and tasks can become more overbearing in summer. For example…travelling in summer is horrendous, sitting in a crowded office in the heat can feel suppressive, and wearing a suit when the days are stifling can become claustrophobic. You owe it to yourself to then take that pent up pressure and release it in a positive way. What better way to do this than find a new gym routine, join a new outdoor class or train with friends.

Charles’ Top Tips!

Stay Hydrated.
Invest in electrolyte tablets if you’re training for over an hour.
Wear sunglasses if training outside.
Wear sun cream if training outside.
Don’t rush into a heavier than usual fitness routine.
Use the opportunity to eat and prep new foods (cold salads, morning smoothies, fresh fruits).
Make the most of the light and make your days feel long and productive.
