It’s The Most Wonderful Time of The Year

Festive activities to book now

With the festive season now fast approaching, and everyone’s diaries already looking busier than ever, here at The Lensbury we wanted to share our pick of the best festive activities to book now, so you don’t miss out!

Whether it’s ice skating at Hampton Court, going to the local panto or visiting Christmas at Kew, there’s something for everyone staying with us this Christmas.

Visit Christmas at Kew

A firm favourite in the London festive calendar, Christmas at Kew returns for its ninth year this November and will run through to early January. Just a twenty-minute drive from The Lensbury, it’s a must for a festive outing, but be warned tickets sell out quickly, so get yours now!

The spectacular light trail, comprising over a million twinkling lights, illuminates Kew Gardens’ UNESCO World Heritage landscape for a unique and enchanting seasonal experience that celebrates the wonders of nature and biodiversity.

Popular installations, such as the Christmas cathedral (the perfect photo opportunity), Meadow of Light and Fire Garden return for another year, and new displays, including an imitation of the Aurora Borealis projected into the night sky, will make their debut.

Festive Cheer at Hampton Court

Just south along the River Thames from The Lensbury, Hampton Court will be transformed into a Christmas wonderland, offering a wealth of festive activities for the whole family.

An idyllic open air ice rink, another of the area’s much-loved festive spots, returns this year against the backdrop of the iconic Tudor palace making for an unforgettable day out.

For foodies, The Festive Fayre will open on the 3rd – 5th December in the Palace’s courtyards. Expect artisanal food and drink stalls selling all your festive favourites, from mince pies to mulled wine, and Christmas classics will be performed live on the bandstand.

New for this year, the palace will also host an after-hours, festive light trail through the grounds and courtyards. The Palace of Stardust illuminations will transport families to a whimsical world of clocks, moons, planets, and sundials, all inspired by the palace’s famous astronomical clock.

Watch Cinderella in Pantomime at Richmond Theatre

For an afternoon or evening of laugh out loud festive fun, head to Richmond Theatre (just a twenty-minute drive from The Lensbury) to see this year’s Christmas pantomime, Cinderella, starring Strictly royalty, Anton du Beke as Buttons.

Step into your very own horse drawn sleigh in Richmond Park

A truly magical experience, especially for the little ones, a private horse drawn carriage will embark on a magical ride through the wintery wonderland that is Richmond Park. See the resident deer and stunning natural beauty from the comfort of your own carriage, complete with blankets and warm refreshments – there’s no better way to see in the festive season!

Thinking of booking a festive getaway? Our Festive Escape package includes an overnight stay, three-course festive dining experience, complete with cracker and table decorations, and a hearty full English breakfast for the morning after.
