As we count down to the opening of our newly renovated dining spaces, we’re inviting you behind the scenes to explore the original vision from our interior designer, Frances Blackham of Trevillion Interiors. In this exclusive preview, we reveal the inspiration and emerging look of our new spaces, including Riverside Restaurant and our 1920s Sports Bar, set to open in summer 2026.

The Riverside Restaurant

Modern seasonal dining meets gastro‑pub favourites

Named to reflect our connection to the River Thames, Riverside Restaurant brings the beauty of our surroundings into the heart of the space.

What inspired the design concept of the new restaurant? Has the riverside location influenced it?

The restaurant is divided into three zones: a family‑orientated conservatory with round tables and direct access to the terrace, an adults‑only orangery-style space with tan and navy tones, and a more functional breakfast area reflecting The Lensbury’s ‘home from home’ feel.

The design draws on how members use the space, the building’s history, and even the original owner’s shell collecting, creating a subtle, nature-led and home-inspired thread throughout.

How will this new design enhance the dining space for members and hotel guests?

Using a mix of seating styles, from sofas and booths to bar stools and poseur tables, the space can adapt easily from quick visits to social gatherings. Flexible elements, such as movable planters, allow areas to be reconfigured for private events or different atmospheres. For example, the conservatory could become a fine-dining space in the evening or a lively brasserie at Sunday lunch. These changes in level and style are designed to make the experience appealing across different needs and times of day.

The 1920s Sports Bar

Rooted in the Club’s sporting heritage and enriched with curated memorabilia

Named in honour of the year that started everything at The Lensbury, the 1920s Sports Bar celebrates a century of sporting history. It offers a vibrant setting for watching major live events, alongside more intimate spaces for relaxed drinks and conversation.

How do you envision incorporating that sporting heritage within the sports bar area?

The design begins with how the space is used, particularly during high-energy moments such as visiting international teams. By enclosing the bar, the atmosphere can be contained while creating a more focused environment.

Sporting heritage is reflected through carefully curated displays of trophies and memorabilia, alongside more subtle, contemporary details such as embedded tennis rackets, ensuring the space feels current rather than traditional. A large screen will anchor live events, while softer elements help maintain an inclusive and welcoming feel for all.

What design themes and colour palette are you considering at the moment?

Each area has its own palette, connected through a cohesive flow. Starting with terracotta, dusty greens and neutrals at reception, tones deepen into richer greens in the sports bar before shifting to navy and light blue in adjoining spaces. These colours draw on The Lensbury’s identity, interpreted with a softer, more homely approach to create a natural progression throughout the interiors.

We hope this gives you a better idea of what to expect, and a glimpse of the beautiful design to come. We can’t wait to open the doors and welcome our members to experience these new spaces for themselves, and to enjoy a taste of our refined new menu.
